In partnership with Facebook and the Special Olympics Committee
Abu Dhabi, UAE, 26 February 2018: Sky News Arabia (SNA), in partnership with Facebook, has announced its annual dedication of the month of March towards supporting People of Determination— as part of its ongoing commitment to the advancement of Arab communities through the prioritisation of noble human values in media content.
Through this initiative, Sky News Arabia is collaborating with the Higher Committee of the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi, to spotlight the participants of the Regional Games, which are taking place in the UAE’s capital next March. SNA will also work to spotlight the participants of the World Games, which will take place during the same month of the following year— and which are expected to be the largest humanitarian sports event in the world dedicated to People of Determination.
Sky News Arabia looks forward to highlighting the successes and achievements of People of Determination throughout the sports domain and in other areas, including cultural, artistic, and technical fields. Accordingly, it has organized various internal and external activities, with the anticipated participation of local and global entities.
Throughout the month, Sky News Arabia will ramp up its production of media content that highlights the work of People of Determination in many fields. SNA will also host a group of specialised speakers across its various media platforms; with correspondents expected to share success stories from SNA offices around the globe.
Additionally, a training tour across SNA’s offices and facilities has been organised for People of Determination who are interested in learning about the nature of media work, in addition to the media’s role in raising awareness about their many abilities, its contribution towards their integration throughout their communities, and in ensuring that they are provided with services and opportunities that make the best of their capabilities. Sky News Arabia will also organize training sessions at its headquarters, for participants who wish to develop their social media skills or other advanced media skills.
True to its campaign motto #HereToParticipate, the Special Olympics Local Organising Committee in Abu Dhabi will involve the Sky News Arabia team in its various volunteer activities. It will also contribute towards supporting the development of media content for use on SNA’s various multimedia platforms throughout the Regional Games – which are taking place from March 14 to 22 – and subsequently during the World Games, taking place in March 2019.
HE Mohammad Abdullah Al-Junaibi, Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Special Olympics World Games, stated: “An integral partner in the development of the UAE— the media, and the support it lends, are a key factor in the success of all types of events. We are delighted that Sky News Arabia is participating in efforts to launch the Special Olympics Regional Games, with an approach and enthusiasm that honours our nation’s status and reputation.”
