The move is made in response to a call from Dubai Women Establishment and Dubai Ladies Club
The Roads & Transport Authority – Manal Khalid:
The Women Committee at the Roads Transport Authority (RTA) has responded to the invitation received from the Dubai Women Establishment and Dubai Ladies Club to take part in a blood donation campaign for the benefit of Thalassemia patients who are in desperate need of a drop of blood to save their lives as part of the endeavours to promote the concept and culture of donation among women.
Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of Marketing & Corporate Communication, Chairperson of RTA Women Committee, said: “Blood donation is a communal responsibility on the shoulder of everyone obliging them to contribute to instilling the values & loyalty to this nation; which has spared no effort in providing all means of decent life to citizens. Therefore, the blood donation process, which is kicked off by our wise leadership, is considered an ideal step towards imparting the culture of volunteering & donation among all segments of the community, and even ordering agencies and individuals themselves to donate blood in order to promote the spirit of cooperation and solidarity in achieving our cherished objectives.
“The RTA is always seeking to participate in all events, and various human & communal initiatives that can diffuse the culture of social solidarity among employees in order to avail the opportunity of paying back to this giving nation. An extensive internal campaign has been launched in the RTA in order to establish an effective communication tool with employees such as sending awareness messages via e-mail prompting them to take part in the Campaign. The Women Committee is always keen on raising the bar on its human activities as a step towards realizing its objectives and instilling a host of values. This has prompted us to join hands with the Dubai Women Establishment and Dubai Ladies Club under a practice illustrating that women is an effective & integral ingredient of the community and capable of giving as well as shouldering responsibility. Such a practice will in turn contribute to embedding this culture and passing it on to the forthcoming generation such that it can be established as a lifestyle.
“A bus has been provided in front of RTA premises to offer exclusive transport for female employees to Dubai Ladies Club for taking part in the Blood Donation campaign. All community organizations and women committees in particular are invited to take part in the Campaign, and respond to the calls of hospitals soliciting community members to donate blood in order to save the life of patients who need a single drop of blood,” said Dr. Aysha in a final comment.
For her part, Muna bin Kalli, Executive Director of the Dubai Ladies Club, said: “The Dubai Ladies Club is keen on disseminating the health awareness among female members and visitors through urging them to participate in blood donation campaigns in support of Thalassemia patients as this process will also heighten their awareness of this disease as well as is preventive means. Such contribution will invite the attention of female employees to the importance of making human participations since donating blood tantamount to a national & social duty that contributes to nurturing a community of firmly interconnected members.”
