DFWAC’s new Board of Directors hold its first meeting


Comprehensive development of DFWAC’s services

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 14 February 2018:

The Board of Directors of The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) held its first meeting chaired by HE Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DFWAC, and HE Dr. Mona Al Bahr, Vice President, HE Afra Al Basti, Director General, and the members Mohammad Ali Rustm, and Dr Sultan Abdul Hamid Al Jamal.

HE Dr. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi said that the Foundation will work in the coming period to expand its services to the victims of violence and human trafficking and add new languages to reach as many people as possible who need assistance, thus contributing to achieving the goals for which the Foundation was established.

He added that the Board discussed at its first meeting a new strategic direction for the Foundation, which aims at implementing the tools of creativity and excellence in all sectors, thus contributing to enhancing the role of the DFWAC in particular and Dubai and the UAE as a capital of humanitarian work.

Al-Muhairi expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude for the confidence of the wise leadership in appointing him and the members of the Council in this place. He stressed that humanitarian work is a great responsibility and that everyone will spare no effort to be responsible for serving the UAE and its sons.

HE Afra Al Basti, Director General of DFWAC, said that the new Board of Directors headed by HE Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, has a wealth of experienced people in charity and humanitarian work in Dubai, stressing that everyone is determined to double their efforts to add to the past achievements to serve victims of violence and human trafficking.

She added that the Council considers that the issues of the society and the strengthening of its stability relatinos are among the most important issues that have the support and attention of the wise leadership in the UAE, where it occupies a special focus in the vision of the UAE 2021, stressing that the Foundation will contribute in all possible ways to achieve this vision.

The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) is the first licensed non-profit shelter in the UAE for women and children victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. It was established in July 2007 to offer victims immediate protection and support services in accordance with international human rights obligations.
